#adoreVIP | Darien & Tanner | Sweet & Sentimental Day

What was a special memory from your wedding day?

We honored our loved ones that had passed on in two ways… We had charms for my grandma, my uncle, Tanner’s grandpa, and Tanner’s best friend. We also had their pictures set up at a memorial table at the ceremony.

What do you admire most about your husband?

I love his love for me and his love for Jesus.

Tell us more about your wedding. Is there a great proposal story? How did you choose your location? Any DIY tips? What else would you want everyone to know about your wedding?

We chose to have our wedding ceremony and reception at our church, Christ Community Church in Gridley. Tanner has been attending the church since he was very young and I have been since I was 15. It holds a very special place in our hearts!

What was your experience with Adore?

It was amazing! The dress that I wore I saw on a Snapchat from Lilli a few days before my appointment. I went into the appointment knowing that was the one I wanted, even though I loved all the others I tried on too! I looked forward so much getting to go to my appointments each time to get fitted for my dress!

Are there any vendors that stood out to you as top notch? Who and Why?

Grace Daley Photography– She’s THE BEST! I knew Grace from high school, and she made the whole day seamless and her pictures of us turned out beautifully!

Who did your hair and make up?

Taylor Wilkey with Studio G did my hair and Brittany Keller (family friend) my makeup!

Who was your florist?

Garden of Grace Florals – beautiful!!!!

Are there any other vendors that we can give a shoutout to? Rentals? Linens? Cake? Videographer?

What do you admire most about your husband?

His kind heart and those eyes!

Tell us more about your wedding. Is there a great proposal story? How did you choose your location? Any DIY tips? What else would you want everyone to know about your wedding?

My wedding was absolutely perfect…my very own fairy tale! At my husbands family lake, a piano wine bar, Hurts donuts instead of cake, my son as the best man and my brother married us…but the real story lies in his proposal!! My husband was a customer at the bank I work at. Every week, on the same day, he would come through our drive up window for a balance. One day he cane through got his balance and pulled away only to return a few moments later. I assumed I had forgotten something or done something wrong so got up to wait on him again..this is when he asked me on our first date! A year later on that same day of the week he did his same routine, but just a little different. He came through and got his balance and when I looked up he was at my drive up window again…said he forgot my lunch! I didn’t think much of this, took my lunch and started waiting on my next customer inside the lobby when I looked up my husband was standing behind the customer I was waiting on with a dozen roses and got down on his knee! He asked me to marry him right there in the bank where he first asked me out! He later told me that he thought this occasion took not only two, but three times around the bank! It was perfect!

What was your experience with Adore?

Wonderful! I felt more and more beautiful with every dress I tried on and when I found the ONE and she put my veil on I was in heaven…I was a bride!

Are there any vendors that stood out to you as top notch? Who and Why?

Adore, of course! Henn House BBQ, Hurts Donuts, D Studios and Cooks and Company (my flowers were top notch)

What do you admire most about your husband?

He is kind and patience and really loves me well despite my weaknesses and OCD personality.

We went to Chicago for our 4 year anniversary and he had planned the whole weekend! I knew nothing which was exciting because I didn’t have to plan anything or stress about making sure the plans went through flawlessly! Ha! We arrived at the dinner cruise he had planned and as we were seated, I noticed there was a bunch of roses waiting for me! And I asked him “are these for me?” after looking around and noticing roses weren’t on the other tables! Meanwhile, all day he kept worrying about the weather and of course I didn’t know why! After we were seated he asked me if I wanted to go to the top deck to look out at the city and just walk around before dinner because we had some time. We went up there and took pictures and then went back down the steps. He stopped and asked two women if they would mind taking our photo up there. So, we went back up, I stood by the edge waiting for him and he was taking a while talking to them (they weren’t far in distance) and then walked over to me. To which I asked him how we should stand and he just looked at me weird. He pulled out a piece of paper from his suit jacket and I truly thought it was a 4 year anniversary note talking about our life together. But I quickly had tears in my eyes as I read words that were signaling me that this might be a proposal! Before I could get done reading the letter, he was down on one knee and asked me to take his hand in marriage! I was in disbelief because I truly didn’t know when it would happen and like I said, he was cool as a cucumber. We went back for dinner and I remember just sitting there thinking about how I would marry him and everything we had worked for and dreamed of was coming true!

We chose our location based on Austin loving the barn look (I do too!) and I wanted to make sure our ceremony and reception was at the same location to make it all in one place. Much easier for guests and us too!

We chose to not do a first look- we wanted the first time we saw each other to be when I walked down the isle and I do not regret that at all! It was the most tender moment between us. We also wrote our own vows which were tear jerkers but it made it an incredibly special and intimate few moments between us.

What was your experience with Adore?

Incredible! I went into Adore on an honest time crunch with getting my dress ordered so I knew I wanted to find something that very day. One and done! And that’s exactly what happened. I found it in less than 40 minutes! Everyone was so kind and accommodating to my large group of girls who were with me. I also really loved that they pick the dresses for you to try on vs. having to browse the whole store only to feel stressed out because its so overwhelming. I tell everyone about Adore!!!!

Are there any other vendors that we can give a shoutout to? Rentals? Linens? Cake? Videographer?

Pancho3 Studios did our video and it was amazing! They were really personable to work with and made the day smooth and stress free!

Jacy Hermes Photography– Jacy is a doll to work with and knows how to make you feel beautiful on your wedding day! She is patient and really is using her God-given talent to bless others!

Karen Roberts: beautiful florals!

#adorevip | Jordan & Brian | A gorgeous Indiana Wedding

What was the style inspiration for your wedding?

The hundreds of paper flowers I made!

What do you admire most about your husband?

His kindness. He never lets his frustration with something get the best of him and he just is so calm and patient. I also admire how hard he works because he does a lot of things in his professional and personal life that keep him busy, and I’m so proud of all the things that he’s accomplished.

Tell us more about your wedding. Is there a great proposal story? How did you choose your location? Any DIY tips? What else would you want everyone to know about your wedding?

The proposal was epic! Brian clued in all of my friends and family on the secret plan a few weeks ahead of time and I had absolutely no idea the proposal was coming. Brian got a good friend of mine, Bianca, to find a reason to get me to a specific spot along the canal in downtown Indianapolis (one of our favorite places) and he was waiting there with a cellist performing a piece he had arranged (God Only Knows by the Beach Boys) specifically for the proposal. It was perfect and beautiful. Then after the proposal he drove me to a surprise engagement party filled with all of my family and friends and we celebrated for the rest of the night. The wedding was absolutely the best day of my life so far. Even with the minor things that didn’t go exactly as planned, it was truly perfect and I wouldn’t change a thing. The venue was so incredible and the few bites of dinner I actually had time to eat, were delicious. I spent a year making a paper flower wall (because I’m insane) and to see it all put together in the spot where we would say our lifelong promises to one another, was so special and something I will never forget. I also made little paper flowers for each guest attached to their escort cards and most of the men wore them in their shirt pockets which looked so cool and wasn’t something I even thought of! We chose Indianapolis because up until last year, that’s where I have lived my whole life. Almost all of my family and friends live there as well as a lot of Brian’s family and friends. The Mavris had everything we were looking for in a venue because we knew we wanted to hold the ceremony and reception in the same building.

What was your experience with Adore?

I purchased my wedding dress from Adore and start to finish the whole experience I had was great. Everyone there was so nice and helpful. Because I’ve only lived in Morton a short time, I didn’t have a whole group of people to go with me to try on dresses and thankfully a work friend of mine told me she wanted to go with me. I had tried on dresses at a bridal store that is a chain and while the person who helped me was perfectly nice, the experience at Adore was just more personal. I felt like everyone who I interacted with genuinely wanted to be there and customer service is clearly something Adore does very well.

Are there any vendors that stood out to you as top notch? Who and Why?

My event coordinator at the Mavris, Ana Campins, was PHENOMENAL. She made the entire planning process go so smoothly and I can’t say enough great things about her. Honestly every single vendor I worked with was so amazing, professional and easy to work with. My photographers, Jessica and Nate from Jessica Rene Photography, were the best people to work with and I am blown away by how well the photos turned out.

The Adore Squad

Happy 7th Birthday, Adore!

7 years ago I had a 4 year old, I had a 2 year old, I had been married for 7 years, I was finishing  my bachelors degree and I was getting ready to open the doors to Adore Bridal & Specialty.

Man, 7 years. On days like today, when I am sitting at the desk at Adore I feel like it was just yesterday. I feel like 7 years isn’t really that long of an amount of time.

But then I think about it like that. I think oh whoa, but now I have been married for 14 years, I  have an 11 year old, 9 year old, 3.5 year old twins and life looks SO much different. 7 years is a  TON of time and so much has changed between then and now.

When I first opened Adore I was opening a dream. I knew what I wanted and I couldn’t wait to provide something that I knew was unique, different and oh so needed to all my Central Illinois brides.

And the first year was amazing. You all welcomed us with open arms and put your trust in our little boutique.

I was overwhelmed by the response. Sometimes I look back now and I think about the fact that I just jumped in. I just new that September 2, 2011 I was going to have brides who were going to  come and say yes to the dress.

I mean, I am not totally sure what gave me that confidence.  What it was that made me believe that that was going to happen, but 7 years later, who really cares. Because it did happen!

Now, I am not going to tell you that the last 7 years have been full of unicorns and roses.  In fact quite the opposite.

We have grown over the years, and the growth has been amazing, but it isn’t just the amount of brides that are finding the dress they Adore (see what I did there) that has grown but me.

I have also had to learn how to grow a business. And let me tell you, that has been all kinds of painful.

It has required me to sacrifice a lot and sometimes even unintentionally hurt people that I care deeply about. I have messed up royally and I have learned and ultimately, dug in deep and kept going.

2 years ago we moved into our new location, or as I call it, our forever home. I am beyond grateful for the 5 years in our “starter home.”  It will forever hold a place in my heart. But this place, this beautiful place, just brings my spirit joy.

Every detail was carefully designed and created. I will never forget the final furniture and decorations run that Kristi and i did in conjunction with market that year. The Ikea guy was convinced there was no way we were getting all that into my vehicle and I was super proud to prove him wrong. But then once we got to the hotel in Chicago we realized that the plants we bought weren’t exactly going to survive in a parking deck for the next 3 days….so yes, we brought them into the hotel with us…and got more than one very strange look from the couple on the elevator with us. I mean doesn’t everyone travel with their plants?

But I digress.

So here we sit, 7 years later, with a business that is beyond anything I could have imagined.   And yet, I know there is still so much more to come….yes I always have new ideas and plans up my sleeve that I can’t wait to share with you!

If you have followed us at all over the last 7 years you will notice that I don’t reference each year as an anniversary but instead a birthday.

There is such a difference in the way that you celebrate a birthday versus an anniversary. So  every year we celebrate this birthday. This child of mine is 7 years old and 7 years young. I am so proud of where it has come in the last 7 years and i am beyond excited to continue growing it and to share with you all that we will continue to do and accomplish in the years to come.

There is so much life in this business, so buckle up because I can’t wait to share it all with you.

What was the style inspiration for your wedding?

Timeless, traditional, with a hint of modern flare

What was a special memory from your wedding day?

Seeing a lot of family that traveled from out of state (from 7 different states) to share our special day with us.

What do you admire most about your husband?

My husband is able to create special bonds with any and all children. He has this draw to him that kids love. This is what makes him such a great teacher. This is a passion we both share and teaching is how we met.

Tell us more about your wedding. Is there a great proposal story? How did you choose your location? Any DIY tips? What else would you want everyone to know about your wedding?

John proposed to be by throwing a surprise birthday party for my 29th birthday in 2017. John actually did not know if he would have the ring in time or not for it and still planned for it anyways. I was completely surprised with the party and the proposal in front of some family and our closest friends. This came more as a shock as John does not like all eyes on him and gets nervous in front of a lot of people.

We knew we wanted to keep our location local in the area and we had some of our closest friends use the Par-A-Dice with rave reviews. When we met and spoke with them we knew that it was the right place for us. We did not want to do traditional food and we decided to have different stations. We had a pizza bar, potato bar, taco bar, and a pasta bar (yes, with mac n cheese). It was amazing, all of our favorite foods! We had a popcorn bar from The Great American Popcorn Company in Morton, the popcorn couldn’t be filled fast enough before it was all eaten. Our cake was through The Cake Shoppe in Bartonville and was so good with chocolate, swirl, yellow, white, and raspberry filling flavors. Keeping everything local was very important to us as we preach to our students to give back to their community and to support small business.

With both of us coaching year round sports (John with basketball and track, and me with jr high softball and dance as well as high school softball) we didn’t exactly have time to do a whole lot of diy projects. However, we did our invitations through a website called: cards and pockets. With the help of a bridesmaid that used it for her wedding we were able to create elegant invitations that took a little elbow grease but was everything I could have asked for and more.

Our wedding was so very special for so many reasons. John and I both loss our fathers before meeting each other. I loss mine while attending Illinois State University and John loss his while he was attending Eastern Illinois University. We both were on different grief levels when we met. This helped us help each other even though we didn’t know it at the time. Our love for teaching and coaching bonded us and allowed us to open up about our pain. Our slideshow of pictures with our fathers left no eye dry at our reception but we really wanted to have the men that helped raise us feel like they were present in our celebration. Even though we both come from very different baseball fan perspectives (that either father would roll their eyes at the other – Cardinals v Cubs) this too has become something we realized our fathers had a love for that passed onto us.

What was your experience with Adore Bridal?

My experience with Adore was so great. My bridesmaids and family were able to have the entire place to ourselves on a Sunday afternoon. This was so perfect for me as I tend to get very nervous with center of attention. I never felt rushed and Andrea was patient and so knowledgable of the styles of dresses that were working and ones that were not. I can be quite indecisive at big decisions and it was so great to be able to have a private experience to help calm my nerves. I ended up going with a style that I did not originally have in mind and I loved everything about my dress. It was timeless, classic, and detailed.

My husband and his groomsmen all wore the Xedo tuxes and looked so great in them. We came into Adore and were able to do all of the ordering online and it was so easy! Plus I definitely think these tuxes looked better than I could have imagined on all different body types.

Are there any vendors that stood out to you as top notch? Who and Why?

Lauren Anderson Photography was amazing from engagement photos to day of photos. Lauren has the personality that makes you feel like you have known her for a long time she is so easy to talk to and is so genuine.

Photographer: Lauren Anderson

Hair & Makeup: B Loved (did a fantastic job and even was able to cater to some allergies that others had)

Florist: Create A Scene was amazing from start to finish. Kristy was so great at giving visuals of what the tables would look like and helped make everything look so wonderful.

Cake: The Cake Shoppe: The cakes was outstanding. The yellow flavor was a huge favorite!

Videographer: Complete Weddings: Dylan was awesome and worked so well with Lauren. He was professional and so easy going and funny! We can’t wait to get our video back.

DJ, uplighting, and Monogram: KC’s DJ Service, everything went unbelievably smooth at the reception and people were on the dance floor until shut down time.

Popcorn Bar: The Great American Popcorn Company, they go above and beyond to match everything to your wedding colors. Plus sampling was pretty great too!

Peoria Executive Limousine Services literally saved the day as my mode of transportation cancelled the night before the wedding! They showed up in a great option that would fit the bridal party and at the last minute.

Bremer Jewelry did a fantastic job on my engagement ring Melissa was so wonderful to work with and was able to create a truly valuable piece with my husband that used a family diamond and created my style around it. My ring means so much because of the story behind it.

Thanks for sharing your wedding day Ashley!

#adoreVIP | Jenn & Jeff | Treasure Island, FL Wedding

An Adore dress on Treasure Island! We love seeing our brides destination weddings. Hear what Jenn has to say about her day:

What was the style inspiration for your wedding?

I wanted something that looked like it belonged on a beach, would be comfortable for all day and I didn’t have to wear shoes with!

What was a special memory from your wedding day?

We had so many friends and family who had traveled from all over to spend the day with us!

What do you admire most about your husband?

He always stands up for what he thinks is right and is not afraid to express his opinion.

Tell us more about your wedding. Is there a great proposal story? How did you choose your location? Any DIY tips? What else would you want everyone to know about your wedding?

We choose our location because we had spent multiple vacations there and we wanted to get married with our toes in the sand. Jeff proposed to me after almost 9 years together, the day after Thanksgiving 2016. He handed the ring to our oldest son and he gave it to me! I was completely shocked ( Jeff was adamant he was never getting married) and I asked him if he was dying!! 🙂 Our wedding day was actually our 10 year anniversary of when we started dating. We created all of our own centerpieces and decorations for our wedding. We wanted everything to have a personal touch. Everything down to the final details involved our beach theme.

What was your experience with Adore?

Amazing! From the very beginning with Andrea, she made it easy and she was definitely on my side, when my bridal party expressed different opinions 🙂

#adoretip // Destination Weddings

What do you think of when you hear the phrase “destination wedding?”

If that phrase automatically gives you visions of white, sandy beaches and groomsmen in khaki pants, please raise your hand.  (It’s fine. This is a safe space).

While it is true that many beautiful destination weddings are held on beaches, these two things aren’t mutually exclusive.

{{Photo by Elsie Stoller}} Pheonix, Arizona

Recently, I was talking with my soon-to-be sister-in-law who is in the midst of planning her wedding this year.  During our conversation, I told her I just didn’t see her as a “traditional bride.”

“Yeah, I’m not,” she said, “ but I also don’t feel like I fit the mold of ‘destination bride’ either.”

It took a moment before I realized she thought “destination” automatically meant “beach wedding.”  We laughed at this realization and suddenly a flood of other possibilities came to our minds. I told her I could totally see her getting married in the mountains. She mentioned that she would love to do something really tropical instead of “beach-y.” There are so many more options that had never crossed her mind!

This conversation got me thinking. Do brides and grooms-to-be fully realize that there are other “destination wedding” options other than a beach wedding?

In order to get the scoop on destination wedding, I spoke with Angee Shields from Vacations with a Flair. She told me that most of their clients don’t end up choosing a beach for their destination wedding. Her list of examples was quite impressive, including options such as in a rainforest, in a garden, on a private terraces, on a rooftop overlooking the water, on a private island, on a yacht in the Caribbean, at an Irish Castle, at an Italian villa, and in a ballroom with a huge balcony. The possibilities seemed endless!

“My recommendations are always specific to the couple I’m working with,” Angee said. “Depending on their desires, destination weddings can save the couple money.  In many cases, I am able to help couples get free air, a free stay, free private parties and more.”

Those sound like great incentives to me!

So if you’re feeling stuck between having your wedding in a more “traditional venue” or on a beach, remember, this is your day. Your destination wedding can be whatever (and wherever) you want it to be. Sandy beaches, optional.

#adoreVIP | John & Anna | Peoria, IL Wedding

I am just dying over this Peoria, IL wedding. It’s absolutely stunning and I love what Anna had to say about her day!

What was the style inspiration for your wedding?

Classic and sophisticated, mostly black and white with pops of reds

What was a special memory from your wedding day?

Listening to the speech from my father at the reception. I knew he had been nervous leading up to it. But, he knocked it out of the park. It was the perfect way to start the evening of fun and dancing.

What do you admire most about your husband?

He is compassionate, empathetic, and loves meeting and talking to everyone. He can make a friend anywhere.

Tell us more about your wedding. Is there a great proposal story? How did you choose your location? Any DIY tips? What else would you want everyone to know about your wedding?

On the Thursday before my last day of work in Milwaukee before moving back to Illinois, I had planned to go to dinner with my twin sister, Marissa, and friend, Erica. Erica was supposed to pick Marissa and I up right after work from our apartment. I had been home getting ready, waiting on Marissa, and decided I didn’t feel like wearing makeup or anything nice. Marissa got home and encouraged me to put on makeup and to borrow a pair of her boots and a nice outfit (rare!). I willingly accepted and got ready to leave. As we walked out the door, I was chatting aimlessly with Marissa who was rather quiet. Out on the street, I started to look for Erica’s car, when suddenly Marissa pushed me towards this man in a suit. He was standing in front of a Lincoln Town Car and asked “Are you Anna?” I looked at him like he was crazy and Marissa started to push me towards the car saying “You’re going in here Anna, I’ll see you soon.” Next thing I knew I was in a car with a glass of champagne and a mysterious man who wouldn’t give any details on the location. I figured it could be one of two things: a going away party from all of my friends as I was leaving Milwaukee after 5 years, or John was in Milwaukee waiting to surprise me. After shakily drinking one sip of bubble and making nervous talk to the driver, Atwater Park appeared up ahead, a location that I knew too well, from many days of running stairs with my college swim team. Standing at the top of the overlook, with a beautiful backdrop of Lake Michigan, was John, looking rather nervous and happy… far away from central Illinois, where I thought he was supposed to be. I got out of the car and John led me down the path, where he sweetly and anxiously talked about all the wonderful things about their relationship, and finally bent down on one knee. After his adorable proposal, I said yes! (with a surprise photographer to boot!)

What was your experience with Adore?

My experience with Adore was incredible and very unique. I was having trouble finding any dress that fit my style, slimming and chic, with a high neck. After trying on several dresses and striking out, finally Brea brought out a skirt and a top for a final try. This was unusual as I did not want my midriff to be showing. I tried on the skirt and loved it. Then I took the beautiful beaded high neck top, and was stunned. They looked so wonderful together! Then, Brea surprised me by saying that the alterations manager, Kathie could put them together, so they would no longer be separates! Unfortunately the top had a cream under lay, while the bottom was ivory. BUT, Brea then explained that Kathie could change the color of the top to match the bottom. Basically, Kathie could redesign these two separate pieces of a dress into one beautiful dress. Working with her was incredible, as I was truly in awe of her ability. In the end, it fit perfectly. To say my dress was unique is an understatement.
